Hi, I'm Martins Michael
I'm a full-stack engineer and AI agent architect based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, working with clients internationally. My work sits at the intersection of three things: backend systems that have to be correct under real financial and operational load, frontend applications built with a type-safe, TanStack-first React stack, and AI agent workflows that go beyond a single prompt into multi-step, tool-using systems.
Recent engineering work spans a multi-tenant SaaS ERP and retail POS platform for African SMEs, a phone-first authentication system and AI agent workflow for an academic writing platform serving Nigerian university students, and a headless CMS architected from scratch on a strict Bun-native stack. Alongside client and product engineering, I run Crestion Career Consults, a career-services practice helping professionals in Western job markets present their work effectively.
I write technical posts on backend architecture, AI agent engineering, and the TanStack ecosystem — mostly documenting the decisions and trade-offs from whatever system I'm currently deep in, rather than tutorials assembled after the fact.
How I work
Blueprint before code
Non-trivial systems get a written architecture blueprint before implementation starts — sequencing modules, surfacing cross-cutting decisions, and making scope honest before a deadline is attached to it.
Correctness over cleverness
In financial and multi-tenant systems especially: arbitrary-precision arithmetic over floats, optimistic locking over hope, append-only ledgers over mutable balances.
The identity your users actually use
Design around how people actually behave — phone-first auth where phone is primary, multi-channel delivery where a web dashboard isn't where users are — rather than the default a library or tutorial assumes.
Write it down
Technical writing isn't separate from the engineering — documenting a decision well enough for someone else to challenge it is part of making the decision correctly.
